Preparing Your Mac And Seagate Personal Cloud For Backup

  1. First, connect the Seagate Personal Cloud drive to your Mac computer.
  2. Next, make sure that the hard drive is correctly connected to the port on your computer.
  3. If you are using a USB adapter, ensure to connect the drive properly to the adapter.
  4. In case you are connecting the hard drive to your Mac for the first time, you will see a pop-up window at the top of the screen saying, Do you want to use your hard drive to back up with Time Machine?
  5. Click the Use as Backup Disk button.
  6. Now, you can start to back up your computer to the hard drive with Time Machine.

  1. Make sure to connect the hard drive to your Mac computer.
  2. Click the Apple icon at the top-left corner of your Mac.

  8. If you want to back up your Mac manually, click the Show Time Machine in menu bar checkbox at the bottom of the window.
  9. Click the Time Machine icon at the top menu bar of the window.
  10. Select the Back Up Now option from the drop-down list.
  11. Now, your entire Mac will start to back up into the hard drive.

Back Up Selected Files To Time Machine

  1. On your Mac, select the Apple logo at the top-left corner.
  2. Choose the System Preferences option from the drop-down list.
  3. Select the Time Machine option from the list.
  4. Click the Options button in the window.
  5. Now, you can exclude the items from the backup.
  6. Click the Plus icon (+) in the window.
  7. Here, select the files, applications, and folders you don’t want to back up from the list.
  8. After selecting, click on the Exclude button at the bottom-right of the window.
  9. At last, click the Save button.
  10. Now, you can start to back up the selected files from your Mac to the Seagate Personal Cloud hard drive.
